Exercise programs

Connect Health & Community provides a range of exercise programs designed to support clients’ health and fitness needs in both private and group settings at venues across our service area.

Our exercise physiologist, Nathan, provides programs to help build clients’ strength and stamina, while ensuring safe and effective use of gym equipment.

Exercise benefits people with a range of health conditions including diabetes, cancer, heart disease and osteoporosis.  Evidence shows that poor cardiovascular fitness is the most significant contributor to death in adults; higher than smoking or alcohol consumption.

During personalised assessments, many clients have also benefited from the identification of undiagnosed conditions and risk factors, enabling referral back to their GP for further investigation.

Other benefits achieved through our exercise programs over the past year include:

  •  31% average individual increase in clients’ exercise bike test stamina
  • 72% average individual increase in clients’ upper limb strength
  • 62% average individual increase in clients’ leg strength

Client feedback:

  • 72.5% of clients reported ‘mostly’ or ‘completely’ achieving the goals they set at the beginning of the program.
  • 52% of clients were attending the gym a year after they had completed the program
  • 71% of clients were more active a year after the program, compared to before attending the program
  • On average, clients were performing nearly 2 hours more exercise per week, 12 months after completing the program, than before they started.
  • 56% of clients reported reduced shortness of breath once completing the program
